1. Do you like sunshine? Why?
I like sunshine, definitely. In fact, summer is my favorite season of the year when we can get more sunshine than in the other seasons. There are just so many things that I can do when it’s sunny.
2. Do you prefer to live in a place where there’s more sunshine or less?
I would obviously choose to live in a place with a lot of sunshine. It’s not to say that I don’t like places where it’s dark or gloomy most of the time. I wouldn’t mind visiting them for a change but to live in those places, I don’t think so.
3.Do you think there are any dangers from sunshine?
Well, as far as I’m aware, too much exposure to the sun can do some certain damage to the skin and it can even cause skin cancer. And also, even though I love sunshine, I try to avoid being in direct sunlight for too long, otherwise I’ll feel dizzy or dehydrated.
4. What benefits can we get from the sun?
There are lots of benefits we can get from the sun. The most obvious benefit is life itself. Without sunshine, there would be no life on Earth. There are also several health benefits of getting enough natural sunlight on a regular basis. It’s believed to promote both your well-being and your level of happiness.
5. Do you like going outside on sunny days?
I love hanging out in parks and other open spaces when it’s sunny. This kind of weather is ideal for outdoor activities so I rarely stay inside on sunny days. If I do, I’ll feel like I’m missing out on something.
1. Do you think it is necessary to create a law?
The development of human race has already proved that a proper and sound legal system is required to maintain social security and it is the best symbol of a modern society.
If there is no deterrent force of laws and regulations, inevitably, the whole society will become chaotic or disorderly.
If every individual acts without considering other’s feeling, there will be much trouble, because the basic right of others can be easily violated and no one can be protected from doing so.
The social order can only be kept through well-rounded legal system.
The legal system is also contributing to the social justice and a more healthy society in the long run.
If most people are fully self-disciplined and well-educated, they can take full charge of their own behaviour and control themselves even in extreme conditions. In this sense, there is no need to establish strict laws and punishment to guide people’s behaviour. Well, this can only be achieved when human beings develop into a very advanced level, not in the present-day society.
2. Do you think the law is fair?
I don't think law is fair in most cases. It is even sometimes described as the game of the rich people. This is mainly because the final judgment of a case is largely determined by the process of trial, in which lawyer and judge play an indispensable role. The truth is that only the more wealthy side of the case can have the financial power to hire the most experienced and well-known lawyer and it is very likely that they also have a very good relationship with the judge. I’m not saying that the final judgment is wrong, but it is conceivable that the richer can have more advantages in the case.
When each law is introduced in the first place, they are devised to maximize the profit of the authorities and the majority of the citizens. So, in some situations, the profit of the minority may be damaged. Also, it is almost impossible to create a perfect law that can meet the requirement of each social class. At least, it has not been created until now.
The creation and implementation of a law has never been decided by only a few people, but it is done by a large number of experts and specialists in this field, with every respects taken into consideration. Besides, with the enforcement of the law, it is also being revised and more cases can be referred when the court judge the situation.
Even if it was not justice and perfect when first initiated, it can be gradually modified and generally speaking, it can be regarded as a fair system.
3. Do we have to be punished if we don’t follow the law?
If someone violate the law without being punished, the existence of law will be defeated. In the long run, people will lose their faith in the legal system and do whatever they like according to their own will.
It is also the best way to deter the potential criminals.
To correct the mistakes and be prevented from re-commit the crime.
Solace the victims/
It depends on many factors, including age and motivation.
For some teenager criminals, who do not have the ability to distinguish right from wrong and cannot be fully aware of their own behaviour, they should be punished in a more gentle way, such as being sent to some educational courses or forced to participate in community services, instead of being sent to jail.
Also, if those who commit crime on the condition of being violated or being threatened with death, they should not be punished or at least the penalty should be reduced.
Sometimes, we have to take into consideration the particular historical background and social impart of some cases, especially those relating to politics and wars. It is every sensitive and complicated to make a sound judgement of who should be punished and how they should be punished. So probably, in order to maintain the stability of the society and reduce the chain effect of some events, people involving in the case can be treated lightly.
4. What’s the difference between a police officer and a lawyer?
Both police officers and lawyers are very important parts of the legal system.
The police officers are in charge of arresting the suspect and keep the social order/ deal with emergencies and fight against social evils
They also have the responsibility of collecting the evidence in the case.
They are part of the civil service system, so they are directed work for the government, for the society and for the people. They must keep value neutrality, that is to say, they should keep as objective as they can.
Lawyers, broadly speaking, are a specific type of profession. They are only the representative of their client, so no matter whom they represent in court, they have to try their best to maximize the profits of their client and try to reduce the punishment of the defendant.
In this sense, they are less value neutral than the police officer, but they have more decisive role to play on the final judge of each case.
Describe a place that is quiet
1. Are there many quiet places in your city?
Well, quite a few. As I know. There are several cosy spa treatment zones where people can take a break from a constant stream of noises, feelings, thoughts and vibes which don't belong to them. There are botanical gardens and remote corners of parks which help people slow down, catch a deep breath and set their minds straight. There are public libraries, museums, art galleries and a planetarium which help people reboot their brain and unwind. And, of course, there is a good deal of small quiet cafes which help people rid their minds of negative and unnecessary thoughts, and just a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of delicious cake. So, there are quite enough quiet places in my city.
2. Why do people sometimes prefer to be alone?
Oh, I guess, first of all, because they need to reboot their brain and unwind from time to time. There is too much noise and communication in people's everyday lives these days and sometimes all of them need time just for themselves, time to think about their past actions and behaviour or think through every action they are about to take, time to discover themselves and find their own voice. Sometimes people need solitude to improve concentration and increase productivity or work through problems more effectively cutting off any dependance on how others can affect their state of mind and decision-making. I guess these are the main reasons.
3. Is there much noise around your home?
Well, fortunately, 'no' as I live in a very quiet area with quite few people around. There are no industrial facilities or machinery in my neighbourhood, so the worst noise around my home is either barking dogs of my neighbours or the noise from air conditioning equipment. Though, from time to time I can also hear squealing brakes of passing cars but it is the exception rather than the rule, thank god.
4. Does this noise affect you in any way?
Well, I am pretty tolerant to noises and just try to tune out whenever I hear them. So, noises which I usually hear in my area don't make me nervous or stressed. Though, there are some kinds of noise I am very sensitive to. I mean some special noises like scraping chalk or nails on a board or persistent knocks on the door. They immediately distract my attention from what I am doing and make me very irritated. I also can't stand loud snoring and intermittent noises that repeat.
5. How do you think noise in cities could be reduced?
Oh, I guess there is a list of 'noise off solutions and large-scale steps that could be taken by cities all around the world. One of them is to lower the speed limit in the inner parts of the city to 40 km/hour. It will not only provide a quieter atmosphere in the city but also reduce pollution and traffic accidents. One more important step that should be taken is to pave roads with noise dampening asphalt, and if it doesn't change the situation significantly reduce traffic volume in the most crowded areas. I would also offer to plant 'noise buffers' composed of trees and shrubs everywhere and especially in busy and create quiet areas and zones in parks, squares and other recreational areas around the city to provide people with special places for relaxation and energy reboot.
6. Is there any place that is absolutely quiet?
Oh, I don't think so, to my regret. I guess it's hard to find havens where silence still rules. When I try to find one, it always turns out that finding unsullied locations is more difficult than it might seem 'cause humanity's noises are always with us in one form or another.
Describe an interesting magazine. You should say:
what magazine it is
what the magazine is about
how often you read it
and explain why you like to read it.
When it comes to this topic, I would like to talk about开头句be published发表continuously持续地不间断地first issue第一版edition版本global circulation全球发行量distinctive features特点extensive大量的,广阔的dramatic戏剧性的夸张的never fail to do做某事从未失败catch one’s attention吸引某人 endangered species, global warming and environmental issues濒危物种,全球变暖,环境问题feel close to… When it comes to this topic, I would like to talk about a magazine named National Geographic, it has been published continuously since its first issue in 1888. This magazine is circulated worldwide in nearly 40 local-language editions and had a global circulation of 6.8 million per month.
This magazine contains articles about geography, history and world culture. There are two distinctive features about it, the first thing is its extensive use of dramatic photographs, when people open it, the colourful pictures of rivers, mountains and animals never fail to catch their attention. The secondly thing would be the topics it has, most of the articles are about important issues like endangered species, global warming and environmental issues, more and more people have known a lot about our planet and its’ main challenge through reading it. I read it not often, maybe about once a month, for the reason that I’m buried in my homework for the most of the time, also that I prefer to read it in English, and there are many words that I need to look up, so it takes me a long time to read it. I love reading it mainly because I love to feel close to nature, for someone like me who was born and raised in the city, I seldom have the chance to go to a forest or climb a mountain, so reading National Geographic is a good way for me to know more about about our beautiful mother planet.
