Task:Art classes, like painting and drawing, are not as important as other subjects, so some people think that it should not be a compulsory subject at high school. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Sample answer:
Schools are places where students acquire knowledge and skills needed for further achievements. Given the pressure that students are facing, some cannot help wondering whether art classes should still be compulsory.
Those holding the view that art classes should not be compulsory might think that art consumes too much of students' time. Fierce competitions students will face When applying for universities necessitate total devotion to academic subjects. College students who intend to take science as their major are even expected to be fluent in foreign languages now so that essays written by foreign scholars are not barriers in their academic pursuit. In other words, high school students are supposed to show higher levels of academic competence, which seemingly makes art unessential.
However, art classes are by no means only intended for entertainment. Children even dabbling in art tend to be more creative in mind. Those skilled in music or painting can interpret the world in a way that we cannot expect from a layman. This kind of ingenuity is also a rare quality constantly found in great scientists, whose contributions have served to create a totally new field for the latter generations. In his reply to a question about death, Albert Einstein considered his departure from the mortal world to be forever farewell to another great musician. With a sigh he answered "I cannot listen to Mozart anymore". Thus, can we simply regard art classes to be selective?
In conclusion, although stricter academic requirements are imposed on students, this cannot be an excuse for excluding art subjects from their curricula. Whatever kind of art can stimulate and inspire students, paving way for their future academic attainment.

Task:A friend of yours wrote you a letter to ask you whether his/ her child can stay with you for a weekend or not
Write a letter to him. In your letter:
l Agree this request
l Suggest the arrival and departure
tell your friend what you are planning to do
参考范文:
Dear Elizabeth,
How have you been? I am so glad to receive your letter, it has been such as long time since we said goodbye in your city.
As you mentioned in your letter, you would like your daughter Lily to stay with me for this weekend, I totally agree what you required, please know that I’m always ready to help you at any time.
For the arriving time, I suggest that she arrive here at 7:00 pm. On Friday night, I will go to the train station to pick her up after I finish my work.
Considering she needs to study in the kindergarten on next Monday, I reckon that 5:00 pm. On Sunday will be a good time for her to leave here, though I feel a little sad when talking about leaving.
Please don’t worry her time here, I have planned various activities for us together. On the evening of her arrival, I’m going to take her to an amazing Japanese restaurant, which offers Sushi, Sashimi, roasted Salmon and other tasty food. I have never forgot how delighted she was when we ate Japanese food last time.
Another big event for us is to visit Disneyland here. In my imagination, dress her like a little princess in pink dress, take the single lense reflex camera to have variety of photos, try those activities like roller coaster, merry-go-round , and so on. But please keep it a secret, i just want to give Lily a big surprise.
Furthermore, on Sunday Monday, the movie Jungle Book is what I’d like to watch with her for the wish that she could be as brave as that boy in the future. But please do not hesitate to tell me whether she has watched it or not.
These are all of my arrangements, if there is any suggestion, please tell me in the reply, by the way, I really can’t wait to spend a wonderful weekend with Lily.
Sincerely
Kiko
雅思作文真题及范文篇四:
Task:Some countries achieve international sporting success by building specialized facilities to train top athletes instead of providing sports facilities that everyone can use. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
Sample answer:
When it comes to a phenomenon that some countries prefer to allocate more money to facilities designed for athletes rather than spend money on public facilities, some people argue that such a phenomenon may be a negative development, but I cannot agree with this opinion.
Admittedly, the public may lack facilities for exercise without devices provided by governments. It is acknowledged that governments’ budget is limited but what governments need to improve is countless. Providing that governments use money to purchase more professional devices for athletes, comparatively, the amount of fund for public facilities will be reduced. Then, some communities may even lack sports facilities for their residents. Nevertheless, it is still a positive development for countries to focus on training professional players.
To begin with, constructing more devices specialized for athletes could serve to maintain their performances. In order to defeat others in international games, such as the Olympic Games, countries, even after gaining a lot of golden medals, need to guarantee that their athletes could perform better in the future. It is natural and reasonable for those governments to fund their players and offer them better equipment and devices. Then, their players could maintain their performances and countries could gain honor and reputation from those matches as well.
In addition, sports facilities could be better used by athletes. Even in some communities where there are a lot of sports facilities accessible, occupied by work, citizens may neglect those facilities to some degree. Compared with building facilities for the public, allocating budgets to professional facilities seems more effective since most athletes will make use of those devices quite frequently. Thus, funding athletes could lead to a better utilization of sports facilities.
In sum, it is still positive for countries to concentrate on training athletes and provide them with more facilities, considering that players are potent to perform better in competitions and they could also make better use of those devices.
