1. 概括地观察Survey
首先略读每章或每页的大概内容,例如:可从书本的序言和目录开始,通常作者会在序言中交代叙述的重点及动机,而目录则可帮助你了解课本的组织架构及章节层次;阅读课文的名称title,主题 main headings及副题sub-headings;
注意每一主题的头一句,导言 introduction和本章提要summary【如果有的话】,图片说明 captions to all graphics等,这样,你不用十五分钟便对内容有概略的了解。
2. 提出一个全面的问题Write a general question
观察课文内容后,提出一个包含所有阅读资料的问题,把问题写在每章节的开首,令自己可以看到此问题时,便忆起全部内容。
3. 提出各别问题来引导阅读Write questions to guide your reading
当你看到主题、副题、图片及首句时,由此而提出有关问题,写在题目或图片旁边,帮助你阅读文章内容。
4.寻求问题的答案Read to answer the questions
阅读章节时,尽量跟随你的问题来找答案,把握课文重点。
5.在答案下划线Underline words that answer the question
在了解一段内容后,找出解答问题的重要字key words及短语phrases,并划记下来。在划记时可选用其他颜色的笔,既方便又快捷。
6. 修正问题Revise the questions
如果在阅读时,发现问题并未得到解答或不明确,可重新写下问题,并将有关答案的字词划记。再重读文章,遇到不明白的地方,再请教导师或同学。
雅思阅读中四大句式结构之省略结构
例 1.
Scientists felt that they could get an idea of how long the extinctionstook by determining how long it took to deposit this one centimeter of clay and they thought they could determine the time it took to deposit the clay by determining the amount of the element iridium 【Ir】 it contained.
【解析】
在 they thought 【 that 】 they could determine the time的宾语从句中,连接词 that被省略掉了,在 they could determine the time 【 that 】 it took to deposit the clay和 it took to deposit the clay by determining the amount of the element iridium 【Ir】 【 that 】 it contained中,因为 that作定语从句的宾语,故这两个 that也可以省略掉。
【处理】
Scientists felt that they could get an idea of how long the extinctions took by determining how long it took to deposit this one centimeter of clay and they thought 【 that 】 they could determine the time 【 that 】 it took to deposit the clay by determining the amount of the element iridium 【Ir】【 that 】 it contained.
例 2.

【解析】
than相当于是一个准关系代词,它后面省略了主系表 the weather was dramatic而只计划留了状语从句 when thunderstorms strike。
【处理】

雅思阅读之强调句的表达方式
【1】“it”引导的强调句
1】It + is/was + 被强调部分 + that/which/who/whom/whose + 句子的其他成分:
在这一结构中,如果被强调部分是人,用"that",“who”,“whom”;如果被强调部分是物,用"that"或“which";强调状语时,只能用"that",不能用"when",“where” 和"why";强调的主语是复数,主句的谓语动词也得用单数。
It was uncle Bill、whose telephone number I lost.
It was we that/who arrived there first.
It was because it rained heavily that they didn’t go outing.
[注]①强调的成分通常为主语、宾语、宾补、状语以及由名词短语表示的主语补足语等。
It is Alice that/who looks pretty.【强调主语】
It was the wall that they painted white yesterday.【强调宾语】
It was yesterday that he put the wall white.【强调状语】
It Was the chairman of the Trade Union that we elected.【强调宾补】
②强调句中"who"或"that"后的谓语动词,应与前面被强调的名词或代词在人称、时态和数上计划持一致。
It is I who have responsible for the organization.
It was he that/who painted the wall white yesterday.
③作表语的形容词不能用于强调句式。
误:It is beautiful that Helen is.
He is taller by far than any other student in his class.
He is by far the taller of the two.
④“No matter”+“关系代词/关系副词”加强语气:
No matter what you may say,1 won’t believe you.
No matter when our motherland needs us.we’ll respond to her call.
No matter how busy the president is,he often takes time off to give talks to the students.
⑤其他形容词、副词或词组用于加强语气:
Put it right in the middle.
Tom is absolutely right in doing this job.

I am anything but a kill-joy【扫兴的人】.【=I am not a kill-joy at all.】
He is nothing but a worker.【=He is only a worker.】
He is nothing if not careful.【=He is very careful.】

2】“It+情态动词+be+被强调部分+that+…”表示强调:
