Is that a very popular subject to study in your country?

【If yes】:

Yeah, I suppose it is quite a popular subject to study, and one of the reasons for this would probably be that a lot of students feel that this major will be useful in helping them find a good job after they graduate.

【If no】:

I guess I probably wouldn't say so, no, mainly because it's a relatively new major in China, and as far as I know, there are not that many universities in China which offer this course.

Is your subject very challenging 【or difficult】 to study?

【If yes】:

Yeah, I'd say it is quite challenging, mainly because of the huge workload we get. So for example, we’re given a considerable amount of coursework to do, which always requires a ton of background reading!

Actually, I wouldn't really say so, partly because we're not given that much work to do, and also because it's essentially not that complex 【a subject】, so everything's relatively easy to understand.

What do you do when you have a difficulty with your studies?

I guess I normally either ask a coursemate for help or go on the internet to try and solve the problem myself. And if I'm still stuck, then I'll go and ask my lecturer for help, but this would be as a last resort, as I don't really like to bother my lecturers unless I really need to.

我想我通常要么请一个书记员帮忙，要么上网去解决这个问题。如果我还是被困住了，我会去找我的讲师帮忙，但这是最后的办法，因为我真的不想打扰我的讲师，除非真的需要。

How did you learn science at school?

Well, we mainly just went through the text book and took notes, so it was pretty similar to other subjects. Though saying that, we occasionally did some experiments, which were quite fun, but unfortunately those classes were pretty few and far between.

Why did you choose ...as your major?

Basically it was due to the fact that my parents thought it was a useful major which would stand me in good stead after I graduate. Personally I'm not so sure, but seeing as I couldn't think of anything better, I went with my parents' decision.

What do you like about your major?

That's a good question, and I guess basically the thing I find most enjoyable about my major is analyzing case studies of various international companies operating in China, because for me, stories are the best way to learn things. And as well as this, I also like the fact that our lectures are quite interactive, because we are encouraged to ask questions instead of just sitting and making notes, and this tends to make the lectures much more interesting.

What's more important when studying - the student or teacher?

Well it's really hard to say, because obviously both play an important role, but I guess I'd say the student is probably more important because generally speaking, most studying is done out of the classroom - at least that's the way I see it!

Speaking of a period of history that I fond of,I would like to talk something about the Middle age. Life in the Middle Ages was completely different than we see it today. Some reflections of life of that period are found in cinemas but most of them are unrealistic. They are filled with fantasies. The real life in the Middle Ages was filled with classifications and the feudal system dominated the entire society. And most importantly, people were superstitious to a great extent. This is a very smart candidate task card and I am happy to have it in my share.

In some terms, living in the Middle Ages was beneficial. Life was not so much complicated as it is found today. People used to live near nature. And there were fewer traffic congestions in the streets. Though the streets remained crowded round the day, there were no troubles among the pedestrians and people used to live in their own way. Minding the own business was the key task. The other important benefit was that they did not think so much about the career or about the other silly issues that matter most in the present day.

But there were some drawbacks as well. The classification was the most important obstacle of this age. People were classified into various groups and the noblemen used to dominate the poorer section of the society. The scope of entertainment was limited and the lower parts of the society had no or little access to such activities. The daily life in this age was the subject of wealth and power.

I would like to have lived in that period of time. In fact, a fascination works in me about that age. I have seen numerous events in movies and got addicted to the age. So, I want to travel in the streets with a dimmed lantern with me and enjoy the views around.

Hopefully everyone reading this is at least familiar with some famous sports stars. You don’t need to be a fanatic to answer this question well… but it might help! You just need to be able to think of a person, describe what he or she does, when and where you first encountered this person, and give some reasons why you admire them.

As always, you should be writing some short notes in preparation, rather than any sentences. Mark down any vocabulary that comes to mind and which you think will help. But mostly write down words that will help you to structure your speech – this makes your words sound more natural.

Despite his health problems, Messi developed into a modern legend. He has won numerous trophiesover the course of his career, including five “world footballer of the year” awards – which is a world record. I remember first hearing about him about ten years ago, when he was first making headlines. I admire him because of his triumph over adversity. Speaking of an important river, I would like to talk about the Yangtse river, which is the biggest and longest river in China. It’s about 6,300 kilometers long.

长江横躺整个中国南方，跨越了中国的十一个省，灌溉了中国五分之一的国土。

The Yangtse River lies in the south of China. It stretches to 11 provinces in China and drains nearly one-fifth of the land areas of China.

假如你在地图上看它，其实它没什么特别的地方，就和其它河流比如尼罗河那样，没啥大的区别。不过，当你靠近去看它，你会觉得任何河流都无法与之效仿。

If you see it on the map, you will find it looks not that special, maybe just like any other rivers, for example, the Nile or something. However, when you take a closer look at it, you won’t feel like it’s something that other rivers can copy.

我记得是在我上九年级的时候，我和我父母乘船去三峡游玩了一趟。三峡那个地方流淌着长江最惊艳的那一部分河流，山峡那里有很多险峻的高山，比如神女峰等等，景色十分震撼。

I remember when I was in the grade 9, I took a boat trip with my parents to Sanxia, where we saw the most stunning view of the Yangtse River along with the tall green mountains like Shennv Feng.

It is indeed very important, not only for the local residents who need the water for life, but it is also crucial for the entire nation, because there’s the Three Gorges Dam lies on it, and it ha’s been generating a lot of electrical power, which is used for all the families and industries in China.
