1.How old were you when you started school?

My school is in the vicinity of my house.I went there when I was 6 years old, because it is not allowed to start school before than 6.

2.How did you get to school each day?

My school was just located near my home, so every day I walked to school with myself, or sometimes with my neighbours.

3.Tell me something about the school

My school is called the Haiyang Elementary School, which was established 50 years ago in my hometown. The school was quite spacious as it was large but there were no many students. Besides, the teachers there were always kind-hearted and responsible for their teaching.

4.What subjects did you study in secondary school 【=high school】?

There were many subjects we had to learn at secondary school, such as maths, English, physics, chemistry, history, geography, and so on. So you can see we had a heavy burden at that time.

5.Have you ever returned to see your old school again?

Yes, every time I go back to my hometown, I’d like to visit my old school and I’ll be very delighted to see how my school developed. I was really proud of it.

6.Can you describe yourself as a good student?

Well, overall I think I am a good student. ... I am not an eager beaver, nor the teacher's pet... but I'm good at scientific subjects and, most importantly, I like studying.

7.Do you study English now?

Yes, of course. I've taken an intensive course this year, where I've attend classes three times a week... And I plan on pursuing my studies in the future, too...

8.Did you enjoy/Do you enjoy studying at school?

I've never really liked school... I'm not a bookworm and a lot of humanities subjects seemed too boring to me. However, the workload was not too big... The other good thing about school is being able to see your friends. And fortunately, I had wonderful classmates.

9.What kind of school did you go as a child?

I have always gone to co-ed schools, right from primary to intermediate and it has helped me to be more comfortable while interacting with opposite sex.

Describe a competition you want to take part in希望参加的比赛。

You should say

What it is

When will it take

Where will it take

I’ve always wanted to sign up for the speed eating contest, you know, where contestants clash to eat as much as possible in a short period of time.

I first heard about this competition on TV, it was held in Japan, and a bunch of pretty girls were sitting at a table, pigging out on noodles. At first, the sight of it just made me full, you know, I was like, ‘That’s disguising. Why would someone eat like that?’ However, later, when I think about it, it could be pretty fun. I mean, I get to eat all those food for free, like donuts, apple pies, cup cakes, hamburgers, pizza, seafood and things like that. And best part is, I can fly around the world to all those interesting places to enter the competition, I heard this activity is super popular in America, it’s more like a tradition there. Plus, I think it’s pretty cool if I can set a new world record, although I know it’s highly unlikely. Another thing I like about this competition is that, I might meet quite a few interesting people. You know, some girls who take part in this kind of competition have super big stomach, but they barely put on any weight no matter how much they eat. I really want to meet them and find out their secrets.

Describe a sport that you have watched before and you want to try

You should say:

What it is

When you first watched the sport

What you like about the sport

And explain why you would like to try this sport

Talking about a sport that I want to try, Zumba springs to my mind. I remember, one day two years ago, when I walked around the sports centre, a piece of passionate Latin music caught my attention. I followed the music and came to the dance studio. Actually, that was the first time when I got to know Zumba and I immediately fell in love with it.

I enjoy it as the music is really my cup of tea. The up-tempo music would add more happiness to the exercises. In this case, I would forget about all worries in my life and live in the moment.

Without doubt, I would love to try this sport. Firstly, as a kind of aerobic exercise, it can strengthen all muscles of the body and burn calories. After long-term exercises, it could lower the risk of developing illness, such as heartdiseases, cancer. meanwhile, I would also lose my excess weight and keep in a good shape. Secondly, Zumba is a good way to relieve depression. I mean, once the music begins, I would be immersed in a happy atmosphere. Last but not least, I find it quite easy to learn even though I’ve never danced before. Frankly speaking, due to the simple movements, most people can keep up with the music.

Overall, I would love to learn Zumba in the future in order to build myself up and release pressure. I think we cannot escape from the reality that most of us may suffer from certain health problems and we need toplay sports rather than just watch them.

Describe something that can make you concentrate on work/study 【

I work in a usually hectic environment and there are all kinds of distraction occurring around, noise the worst. Thank god, I am allowed to resort to music for some protection.

My daily workload is huge and need quite a long focus to finish. To make things worse, the whole work place is open-plan without the traditional cubicles or office that divide and insulate people. My ears are swarmed with all kinds of sound, and it can be taxing sometimes. So, like those college years, I chose to isolate myself into a personal zone, it feels like travelling back to the library cramming study for some exams.

The music is really a helpful tools in such situations. I can’t hear the constantly sniffing any more, the sound of biting or sipping is gone, even all the work talks or gossip talks fade away, totally shield by my beloved video game soundtracks. It never gets boring, and it continues to pulse. My best bits are recordings from StarCraft, of which I played insane amounts of as a teenager. It really keeps me up when carrying out a task. As I finally dig out, as this kind of music is designed to foster achievement and help players get to the next level, it activates a similar “in it to win it” mentality while working. At the same time, it’s not too disruptive to my concentration. It’s just there in the background, not too boring, not too soothing, not too upbeat, not too bleak. For a guy who started in eighth grade with StarCraft and War3, I feel a strong connection to those game soundtracks. Maybe the nostalgia adds to the effects of music when I work.
