There is an evolving 【it refers to gradually over a period of time into something different and usually more advanced】 tide in some countries that the average weight of people is growing but their health is decreasing. I think that the cause of these problems is due to unhealthy lifestyle and lack of exercise.

As people are getting lazier today, they want convenience in everything. When they return home from work, they choose to eat microwaved dinner or fast food as they do not have to take the trouble to prepare a meal or wash up after dinner. The introduction of fast food is also the main cause of their decreasing health. Nowadays, people are opting for【to choose one thing or do one thing instead of another】 a fast food restaurant meal rather than a simple home-cooked meal. Sometimes burgers and pizzas may taste better than a home-cooked meal while think of all the huge calories swallowed 【to make food or drink go down your throat and towards your stomach】. Meanwhile the oil they used to fry the fries is literally 【used to emphasize that something, especially a large number, is actually true】 black, which is detrimental 【causing harm or damage】 to health. What is more, eating too much will also lead to health problems. Sugary drinks, packet chips, candies and chocolate are also some of the causes that contributes 【to help to make something happen】 to the falling health, because heavy consumption can lead to weight gain and diabetes.

I think that the crux 【the most important part of a problem, question, argument etc】 lies in the lack of exercise. Especially our metabolism rate will drop as we grow older. Even if we eat the same amount as before, we will still suffer from the increasing weight. Hence I put forward the only solution, to exercise, at least 30 minutes of brisk walking 【a kind of sport, walk quickly】. This target can be easily achieved, provided people do not drive to work. In addition, they can take a bus or a train come on the way, play with children or bring the dog for a walk, or anything to get attention away from the couch, because more exercise will suppress 【to stop yourself from showing your feelings】 cravings for desserts.

People should also balance their diet, for example, by eating more vegetables, fruits and less meat, and by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Remember, we also need to cook healthy food ourselves to assure that our dietetic hygiene 【the practice of keeping yourself and the things around you clean in order to prevent diseases】 is guaranteed. This is healthy for body , and it is also less likely to fall sick 【get ill】 for us if the balanced and regular diet is kept.

题目:A balanced diet, or eating balanced meals, is the key to a healthy life. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer.

范文:Although a balanced diet is important, there are other factors which contribute to a healthy life. People in some cultures do not eat a balanced diet, but use limited food sources. In addition, lack of stress could well be as important as diet.

One culture-related reason concerns environmental or climatic conditions. The Inuit, in the Arctic Circle, live in harsh surroundings and their major source of food for many months of the year is fish. Nutritionists in industrialized countries would not consider their diet balanced or even healthy, yet Inuit people have flourished in food from the sea for centuries. Another cultural reason is religion-based. Many Hindus are vegetarians because of their religion. Again, many dieticians claim that vegetarianism is unbalanced because humans need protein, especially from animals. Hindus, however, seem to be quite healthy, suffering no ill effects from the lack of animal protein.

The major reason for disagreeing with the balanced diet argument, however, is to do with stress. Even though people in the past did not always have a balanced diet, something existing only on potatoes and bread, they lived healthy lives because there afflicts urban residents today. Secondly, there is a large percentage of contemporary people who do their jobs, then relax in front of the TV, and quite often eat junk food. But seem healthy enough. They may be spared disease by their relatively stress-free lives.

In conclusion, although it is undeniable that a balanced diet is of some importance to health, there are no doubt more factors that may get involved in affecting people’s health in terms of living environment, climate and stress in them.

Walking is a good form of exercise and requires less physical efforts than any other regular forms of exercise. I walk regularly in the morning to keep my body fit.

I want to talk about one of the most popular forms of exercise - walking. Walking has a wide range of health benefits. It makes the people fit and the most important thing is that the people who walk do not need any external instruments to perform the walk. Moreover, it is convenient to all ages of people. There is no preset speed or distance is set for walking. So, an individual can have the walk after his or necessity. But in some cases when walking is prescribed by a doctor to prevent any specific physical illness or disorder, then you are to follow the prescribed distance to get cured.

Well, I usually take the walk in the early hours of the day and take it every day. I have no physical disorders or any other troubles but I go for the walk to have a grand opening for the day. Usually, on the weekends, I take a break from the walk. You know the weekend nights are too exciting in Singapore streets and thus I cannot get back at home before midnight. If you were me, it would have been tougher for you too to get up at 5.30am for the walk. So, I take the breaks on the weekends. But on the other days, I do not miss the walk and also have formed a team of walkers who accompany me in the early morning. I have two neighbours who are also conscious about their health and thus we three move for the walk in the city street.

The morning walk is helping me to a great extent to maintain my fitness level. I have been walking for around three years and as a result, my weight is under control and the heartbeat follows the regular rhythm while many of my colleagues have gained weight only for their desk job whereas I have been fit as I was in the beginning days of my job. Moreover, the morning walk makes my mind fresh and I feel lucky to breathe in the fresh air. Usually, the air is hot and polluted in the busy hours in this Lion city and I also cannot manage enough spaces to walk speedily. So, I have picked the morning to get the walk. Besides, it gives me the energy to deal all the challenges at my office. Moreover, I can think clearly which I believe is the benefit of walking as it keeps my thoughts cool always.
