So, knowing how to swim is important, especially for children if they live near water – it could literally save their life if they fell into a river or something like that.

As for benefits, well, it’s great exercise, full cardiovascular benefits for your heart and it’s also low-impact exercise so people of any age can do it without risk of damaging their joints. And of course, it’s a great way to have fun at the beach with friends – or as we do – at the pool when we’re relaxing.

The small thing I do to help the environment is to recycle paper. Actually I didn’t start to do this until I was in high school. At the very beginning, I used to writing only on one side of each piece of paper and then threw it away.But one day, my science teacher in high school showed us a documentary on environment protection, which told us about the severe environmental problems that imposed a huge threat on human beings. In the documentary, paper-using was especially mentioned for the reason that we actually cut down tons of trees each year just to make all sorts of papers. I was shocked by the image of the black, bare, lifeless mountain after all the trees were moved. More seriously, cutting trees led to climate change, which further on, triggered catastrophes such as flood, blizzard, and landslide. They all made people nearby suffer from a miserable life. At that moment, I decided that I should cherish each piece of paper and avoid overusing it.From then on, I never threw any paper away without using both sides of it. Moreover, I collect wasted paper everyday and sort them out according to their raw material. Then I take the wasted paper to the recycling station, where they are more carefully divided into various categories and later, will be used to produce other paper-products.Not only do I do this by myself, I also encourage my schoolmates and friends to do this together. I understand that the paper I can recycle only accounts for a tiny proportion of paper in everyday use. However, I believe that this small action may seem to be a drop in a bucket, but with our effort accumulating, it will finally make a difference. If we save one piece of paper each day, we may save one tree, or even a small woodland each year.

The activity that I remember be part of is the photography competition in my highschool, aiming to help students get familiar with photography and be more conscious about preserving traditional culture. The activity actually was kind a like a project, aiming to help students get familiar with photography and be more conscious about preserving traditional culture. Actually, the theme of the competition is “ Where is our tradition”,which means all the participants have to take a series of pictures of things related to our tradition or culture.

Some of my classmates who were interested in photography and me formed a team and we did the project together. Some of my team members are really brilliant and professional in photography and some others are specialized in traditional stuff and history. After we registered for the competition, we were really excited and eager to do it well. So, naturally, we did a lot of preparation,the whole group was divided into 3 teams, Team 1 was responsible for searching information on the Internet and Team2 to design the framework and album, and I was in the Team 3, taking the pictures. My team went to lots of places in my hometown and took lots of pictures, including paper cut, pottery, embroidery and even Chinese knot. We worked really hard for it after school because the time for us was quite limited, only 1 week I guess. For one or two days, we even burned mid-night oil together in my home. But, when we finished the album,we achieved great sense of fulfillment. I mean we really do something by ourselves. More importantly, through this art activity we learnt more and about our tradition.

1. Do you think it's important to be on time?

Yeah, I think it definitely is, because it’s basic manners to be on time for things. You know, I think you‘d agree it’s pretty rude to keep people waiting, and so it kind of leaves a bad impression on people.

2. How do you feel when others are late?

Well I guess it kind of depends, because I mean, if there’s a good reason for being late, you know, like getting stuck in traffic, then I won’t really mind that much. But you know, if the person doesn’t really have any excuse and it’s simply because they couldn’t be bothered to arrive on time, then I suppose I might feel a bit annoyed.

If someone’s late by only a few minutes or so, then that’s no big deal, you know, I have no problem at all with that. But if someone’s late by, like, an hour or something, then it can be pretty annoying, especially if I’ve gone to the trouble of getting there on time.

Yeah, I am. And I know it’s a bad habit, but for some reason, no matter how hard I try, I always seem to end up being late for things!

7. When does time seem to move fast, and when does it seem to move slowly?

Well, I think most people would agree that time moves fast when you’re having fun. And a prime example would be when playing computer games, cos I mean, whenever I play online with my friends, it always seems that only an hour or two has passed, but in actual fact, it’s probably been four or five hours!

And time normally goes slowly when you’re bored or simply just not enjoying yourself. For example, I remember at school, some of my classes felt like they would never end, when in fact they were just, like, 45 minutes long!

8. If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?

That’s a good question. What would I do differently? Um….., ok well first of all, if I could go back in time, I would definitely spend more time practicing the piano, because you know, I never really practiced that much when I was younger, and I kind of regret it now, because I’d love to be able to play the piano well.
