Your school is planning to add some information on the school news board. Which one would you choose: travel, reviews of restaurants nearby or films. State your opinion and explain why.
It’s better to add travel news for students. Learning culture and life in other countries or regions, students get their mind broadened even when there is no time for a real experience. High school is intense and exhausting. Students need a break to release their stress and prepare for their college life. Through knowing more about different places and traveling there, they are able to refresh their minds and get ready for more challenges in the busy life. In addition, when they are during the break, they have a chance to realize what they really need and where they wanna go for future study and life, so that they can identify themselves and work harder.

This kind of thing happened in my school recently is that last year my school opened a compulsory class on cooking, teaching you to cook different kinds of foods, such as Chinese dishes or cuisine from other countries. At first I didn’t think it a good idea, because I used to rely on parents to cook meals for me and I wanna spend more time on my study. However, after months’ learning, I mastered many skills of cooking, such as how to fry, how to steam, how to stew and so on, now I can cook many delicious foods by myself and I get a sense of accomplishment. Two years later I will study in another country by myself, I think this skill may help me to be more independent. It turns out this course can be positive and beneficial.
Since last semester, the administration center in our school has announced that the power supply will be controlled and turn off in our dorm rooms at ten o’clock every evening, instead of supplying the power the whole night. At first, every one of us was absolutely furious with this policy, because it brought us a lot of inconvenience. For example, I can’t charge my iphone and mac air any more and sometimes, I can’t preview and finish the assignments until midnight. However, after I get used to this new rule, I’ve never left my homework till the midnight. Furthermore, I start to form a good habit of sleeping early and get up early to jog a little bit before getting to the dining hall for breakfast.

Who has the most influence on you?
1.family 2.teacher 3.friend
Personally, my friends have the biggest influence on me
Obviously, I spend most of my time staying with my friends, including taking classes, doing sports and attending entertainment activities and so on, so during the process, my friends’ words and deeds would definitely influence mine. For example, when I was in primary school, I liked imitating my close friend, Michel, to sort out the notes we jotted down in class. As a result, I could have an excellent performance in the final exam, from which we could see that Michel’s good study habit had a positive impact on me.
However, for my parents, due to the fact that I live in the boarding school now, I seldom have the chance to go home, just communicating with them by cellphone. In this case, it is impossible for them to exert much influence on me.
when it comes to my teacher, with the background of score-oriented study, my teacher’s influence , with no doubts, is just limited to academic aspect, nothing else.

1、Advantages:
SD:
①A good way to test whether the students really learn the knowledge well without any preparation.
②It’s easier to see which students are really in good command of what they learn in the class and which students are not good, so that the professor can adjust his/her way of teaching and focus to make the teaching more effective;
③ A good way to remind those who only review at the last minute of the exam to be hardworking on every single class.
2、Disadvantages:
SD:
①It may lead to bad quiz results which make the professors frustrated since students don’t get good preparation for it.;
②It doesn’t make too much sense to both professors and students since all the final exams are going through by preparation.
③It may discourage students who have bad performance in the quiz, so that they will have less motivation to work hard.
There are a few advantages and disadvantages of surprising quizzes.
For benefits, first of all, quizzes can be used by the professors to measure whether students have completely digested the previous knowledge that they were taught through the results. In this way, professors can help students to cope with their problems accordingly. Also, students can figure out their weakness via tests and review those incorrect parts so as to have better performance next time.
For drawbacks, surprising quizzes will foster a kind of intense study atmosphere, which will farther burden the students who have been already confronted with huge stress. Even worse, sometimes they are not ready for the tests since they have no idea when exactly test will be delivered. Therefore, it is likely for them to gain low scores in test, which leads to negative impacts on their GPA and even the application for college.
When it comes to advantages of surprisetest, the most obvious one is that it can show the real learning situation ofstudents. Through this way, professors can know how much students really absorband how well they learn. If a student performs well in surprise tests, it meanshe pays effort to review regularly and he deserves to get a higher score infinal grade. Plus, professors can also adjust their classes based on students’performance. But it does have some disadvantages. Some students, they just needmore time to digest what they have learned. Others may be shocked and feelnervous, which will also influence their results. So it may not be fair enoughto all students.
