1.Some people prefer to get information through printed materials like books. Other people like to do that via the Internet. which way do you prefer and why? 【Which do you prefer, e-reading or traditional reading? 】【06. 11.10, 07.
Sample answer:
Some people prefer e-reading ‘cause it’s fast and convenient. But in my opinion traditional reading is better for three reasons.
First, paper reading doesn’t have as much bad effect on our eyes as computer reading.
Second, the printed word gives more comfort, enjoyment or personal touch than electronic text. I like the feeling of turning the page and taking notes on the book.
Though computers are changing the reading habits, the long tradition of printed word may yet not be. Most people still read printed books, magazines and newspapers to get their information.
Therefore, I prefer traditional reading to e-reading.
2.Should government give financial support to build
museums and theaters? State your opinion and explain why.

In my point of view, government should provide fund tobuild museums and theaters because they serve as exhibitioncenters for people to know about the history and culture of thecountry.
The range of museums is fantastic—there are museums ofancient history and archaeology【考古学】, of natural history andeven museums for such things as transport and crime! Andbecause the museums are constantly holding new exhibitions, there is always something different to see.
Theaters offer people a big place to enjoy a variety of operasand plays of different regions. Even the world's best group comeoccasionally. Meanwhile, the building of the museums and theaters will enhance the cultural exchange between countries.
They are also one of the contributing factors that promotethe national economy.
That's why I think it's a good idea for government to helpwith the building of museums and theaters.

I think old buildings should be protected and maintained forthe following reasons. First, old buildings carry a place's history, tradition, local custom and even some unique character.
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:
Laws should be enforced to forbid the use of cell phone while walking on the street.
I’m all for this idea, as the use of cell phone while walking pose serious threat to pedestrians’ safety. Say you’re on the phone while crossing the street, you may fail to notice the change of traffic signal or hear the car horn like crazy behind you. Then the chance of traffic accident is doubled or even tripled. If related laws are enforced, the government would play a more active role in forbidding such risky behaviors; also the pedestrians would better discipline themselves while walking. I’m sure we’ll witness a sharp decrease in the occurrence of traffic accident. That’s why I like this idea.
学校要限制图书馆网络的使用,只用来做学术相关搜索,不能用于发邮件以及其他娱乐,你是否同意?【Do you agree ordisagree: Students can only use the library’s network to search for academicinformation, but not to send personal emails or for entertainment. 】
Agree
SD:
① Distractions may be improved by other stuff like social website or games, which can decrease study efficiency.
② The decent ambience will benefit students to pay more attention to their study.
Disagree
SD:
① Students can get rid of stress by watching a movie or other stuff after high-intensive study.
② It’s a decent spot for students to boost relationship with peers cuz they can send emails.
I don’t think it makes a lot sense. Coz there’s no clear boundary betweenacademic and entertaining. Say if we are to study the different Englishaccents, then we have to search for some possibly entertaining videos or showsgiven by English speaking individuals to do case studies. Is this academic orentertaining? Plus, sending emails with professors is like an indispensablepart of our university life. If I’m not allowed to send emails in the library, then every time I need to discuss something with my adviser, I’ll have to runall the way back to my dorm. This is ridiculous.
